Qatar joins Bahrain and Oman regarding the possibility of registering trademarks in classes 32 and 33, in connection with alcoholic beverages.
Following Qatar’s adoption of the 13th edition of the Nice Classification, all current classes are now open to trademark registration in Qatar.
As a result, classes 32 (beers) and 33 (wines and spirits) will now be accepted for trademark registration in Qatar, removing the previous restrictions for the sector.
This reform calls into question the old “bypass” strategies used to obtain minimal protection for non-priority products (tableware, clothing, etc.).
In order to ensure truly effective protection for beer, wine and spirits producers, the relevant class 32 and 33 filings must be made without delay!
